Media Blackout = Mass Murder?

As far as we can tell Burma is not issuing any visas at the moment. The junta has shut down communication with the outside world and the main stream media has stopped reporting what little information does manage to seep out. There are reports that as many as 2,000 monks and plain clothes citizens have been murdered. Hla Win, a senior official of the ruling faction who defected and was waiting at the border with Thailand to seek refuge, said that the bodies can be counted in the several thousands now. The would-be revolution has been quashed, the UN has stopped flailing its arms, and the headlines are talking about sex scandals again. Meanwhile, thousands of monks are being detained and similar scores have apparently been assasinated.
